Palm need get better system after all, it's big and very unstable. (for GSM netwerk of Movisatr in Venezuela)
If you want a camera that doesn't look like crap, skip Palm. I have completely lost faith in this company's ability to not only make a "smart" phone, but a "phone" in general. I've owned a half-dozen different Palm phones. if you want a phone that isn't severely underpowered and sluggish, skip Palm. If having your phone ring when someone calls is important to you, Palm is not the right choice. If having a hands free headset that actually works at least 80% of the time is important, Palm is not the right hardware to use. This phone is so underwelming I'd hesitate to recommend it as a paperweight. However, this phone freezes up and is so profoundly incapable of performing basic functions, i can't recommend it for any purpose, even as a paperweight.
Today I see in their online status that the status is marked shipped; though fedex doesn't recognize the tracking. This has the best OS on the market and touch screen is awesome. The charger glow light came on, but it looked like its charging, but wasn't. Had the issue escalated and finally had to yell at them to let me talk to their US counter parts. Again I got the standard answer that they are "escalating" but do not have a current status. the phone jack circuit was loose, so no matter if I am using the phone jack or not, people can't hear me and I can't hear them. All treos have mediocre reception, highly prone to dropped calls, self reboots; weird behaviors like rebooting when switching calls between active and call waiting and if the inactive caller hangs up, then the phone will reboot; yada yada.My latest gripe with my new tro 680 started when a known common problem hit me, i.e.
So i sent the phone back for repair (under warranty). after a long 10 day wait, I was given another refurbished unit which refused to charge when plugged in to the 680 charger. I have had treo 600, 650 and now 680. So waited another 10 days with no response. When I called them, kept getting their call center in India who don't know the status, but they just want me to wait another day. Sadly, things were not any better their either. Piss poor service. and this is the thanks I get.
Through all the treos over 5+ years, I can say besides the high usability, the hardware SUCKS. So overall I have been without my phone for almost 4 weeks now. so here we go, sent this replacement unit back. Palm wanted to charge me $25 for an advance exchange even though they sent me a bad unit. What can I say, I have been a faithful treo customer for years and I have put up with all kind of hardware problems before with every single unit I had. Looking at the new Nokia E71 now.
I knew it was bad but I didn't realize how bad it was until I switched over to a Blackberry phone this week and it was like the sun coming out.I had literally stopped making phone calls because of the difficulty and frustration. this takes FOREVER. Just connecting to your wireless headset (required for driving) takes 13 (thirteen.). You become a junkie looking for a plug.2) Random shut-downs in the middle of use: you need to re-boot 3-6x per day. Each time you turn it on.Is someone out there from Palm listening. Usually in the middle of an important call.3) Search function from hell. Palm 680s have these issues:1) Standby battery life less than 8 hours, even IF you don't use Bluetooth, shut off the automatic date/time sensing function, and install the so-called "patches." You need to carry a recharger EVERYWHERE. Just to dial a number.4) Bad interface design causes way too many clicks and screens to accomplish common tasks.
Want to find someone's phone number. it doesn't search by first name OR last name, it searches your entire database looking for the occurrence of a certain sequence of letters. keyboard commands. GET A BLACKBERRY.
They took my broken phone then sent me someone elses broken phone. When you have an issue, you are dealing with people in the Phillipines. Do not buy a Palm product. My original phone broke within the warranty period; they sent me a "refurbished" phone. Don't believe me. Go ahead and buy one.
